A six-month extension to the current legacy reporting timeframe will allow the Police Ombudsman to report on conclusions in a number of outstanding Troubles-related historical investigations.
Transitional arrangements established under the Northern Ireland (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act 2023 had specified that reporting could not continue after 31 October 2025.
The Government has now extended that timeframe until 30 April 2026.
We will continue to communicate with affected families in the coming weeks and months about outstanding reports on these investigations.
